Two of the key elements of Runic Games’ upcoming ARPG Torchlight 2 is that it can be modded and that they will also be releasing free DLC to players.
Today at PAX 2012, Runic’s Travis Baldree revealed that the game will support the Steam Workshop which means that mods created by the community can be easily accessed through Steam. Baldree commented:
“There was no reason not to, after seeing Skyrim’s already amazingly active modding community positively explode with new users after Workshop made installing mods a virtually idiot-proof, one-button process, I’m baffled whenever a developer tells me their game won’t take advantage of it.”
Travis once gain touched on the topic of DLC at PAX. DLC content created by Runic will be free to players and they are looking to push out new content on a monthly basis which is awesome news for players looking to keep playing once they have completed the game.
Looking at the extensive customisation and features, Torchlight 2 could well be on the way to becoming the ARPG fans have been craving for some time. We’ll know soon enough when the game released on 20 September.
