Lizard Squad return with a new series of DDoS attacks

lizard squad ddos

A lizard, yesterday.

Lizards love basking in sunlight, or, in the case of DDoS group Lizard Squad, basking in the notoriety of bringing down major gaming services. You may remember them from such DDoS (Denial of Service) attacks as the ones on Blizzard a couple of weeks back.

Like a rock band who just can’t help going out on the road again, Lizard Squad have reformed and returned to their DDoS-ing ways. Right now it looks like Sony are their main target and the group are claiming responsibility for “parts of” Destiny being offline, as well as “parts of” Call of Duty: Ghosts. PSN is also reportedly down for some, though whether that’s due to lizard interference isn’t clear.

Obviously Destiny being hit doesn’t affect PC users, nor, really does Call of Duty: Ghosts (I doubt it’s the Steam version, for the ten people still playing that on PC.) But the return of Lizard Squad means the world of PC can probably expect further DDoS attacks. Last time, MMOs seemed to be the prime target (Blizzard stuff, Guild Wars 2 and so on,) but League of Legends got plenty of grief too.

On a somewhat related note, here’s a radio interview in which Louis CK repeatedly asks former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld if he is a lizard person. Rumsfeld doesn’t deny it, so I think it’s almost certainly fair to say that he’s the number one suspect for these DDoS attacks.
