Intellecual property crossovers and convergences are nothing new.  We’ve had Mortal Kombat square up against DC Comics, Aliens meeting Predators and the union of the Mario and Sonic universes. 
However, when Capcom are involved things tend to be a little different.  They treat the subject matter with a great deal of care, attention to detail and respect.  This approach invariably leads to some wonderfully crafted and rightfully celebrated games.  Games that are usually meet with cries of joy from the Kingdom of Geek as age old forum flame wars revolving around who would win a fight between Devil May Cry’s Dante and X-Men’s Magneto, or Street Fighter’s Ryu and Marvel’s Dr Doom, can finally be settled.

Capcom Aiming At Online Gaming, Digital Downloads, Mega Man

Capcom’s business plan for the upcoming financial year includes a greater focus on online gaming, and digital content delivery.Mention is made specifically of Mega Man Online – a game that may or may not be related to the suspicious trademarking of Mega Man Universe a little while back – which is apparently to be jointly developed with Neowiz Games Corporation of Korea.This is just one aspect of Capcom’s targeted increase in online gaming, though.

Frank West Coming To Everything, Says Capcom

Former SCEE President Joins Capcom

Capcom has announced that it has appointed David Reeves as the Chief Operating Officer of Capcom Entertainment Europe.Reeves was formerly the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, having worked with the company for 14 years during which time he set up operations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and oversaw the launch of the PlayStation across Europe.“I established a close working relationship with Capcom during my time at Sony and have always admired its commitment to push boundaries and develop innovative titles,” gushed Reeves.

Capcom Employees Want Street Fighter IV PSP

Street Fighter IV product manager Natsuki Shiozawa has expressed her desire to see Street Fighter IV on the PSP.A recent update on Shiozawa’s official Capcom blog (via Examiner) revealed that the Capcom product manager – and plenty of staff at Capcom – want a PSP release of the popular fighting game.This doesn’t seem such an outlandish idea if you saw the recent news that Street Fighter IV is due an iPhone release, but there’s nothing official yet.The next major Street Fighter release we’re looking forward to is Super Street Fighter IV, due out at the end of April.

Capcom Delays Major Titles

Lost Planet 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Dark Void and Monster Hunter Tri have all been delayed in a bid to “maximise sales volume” according to Capcom’s latest investor report.The document states that by doing this the company can “avoid competing with major titles” from other publishers and that it will “preserve the value of Capcom’s titles.”In addition to this, Capcom has slashed its sales forecast figures, with Dark Void (released later this month) the only title to have a revised figure of less than half of the official forecast, dropping from an expected 1.3 million sales units to 600,000.
