    Shokushu's stream

    Hello everyone!

As most of you probably already know, I have set up a livestream on Twitch to showcase my skills help newer people to learn more about the game.

I started last week by commentating a game played by IncGamers in matchmaking. Don't be fooled though I created a new twitch channel where I will only be steaming DotA2.

The new url is now http://www.twitch.tv/shokushu and I will be starting tonight! The commentaries will probably only happen during weekends though because I need some preparations and I kinda just want to play during week evenings so it will be me playing, probably solo queuing into the matchmaking system, with some random japanese music (I have weird tastes in music but I made a playlist of acceptable stuff).

I will end this post by thanking everyone who will watch my stream and who supports me, I will do my best to help every new player that needs help! Don't hesistate, talk to me, send me a message!

Also, there is roughly the streaming schedule I will be adopting:

    Weekdays, 6PM-12PM (mostly solo matchmaking)
    Weekends 10AM-10PM (Commentaries, games, everything!)
All the times are in the EST timezone

EDIT : You can follow me on twitter @Yanenrogne where I will be tweeting everytime I start streaming!

Excellent Will give this a look soon. I'll have to check out the matchmaking game commentary, too...

Curiously, what are your PC specs?

I've always wondered what it would take to do a livestream.. or simply to record live gameplay.

Ofc, I game on a laptop since I'm always moving around so I doubt I can do it on mine.

    WELL LOOK WHO'S FINALLY POSTING

Recording live gameplay is pretty system intensive, particularly if you've got the graphical details up high, and FRAPS goes through CPU cycles and hard drive space like Mickey Rooney goes through marriages. Paul keeps telling me XSplit is a less intensive alternative, but he lies to me regularly.

Livestreaming isn't nearly so bad, from what I can gather - Spank can livestream, but can't capture - but my problem is bandwidth. I'd love to livestream (particularly stuff like Outlast) but my upstream is just too **** to support it. I mmmmmight try it again at some point soon just in case my new router has made a difference, as that has sped up my connection a little, but I doubt it'll be enough.

My problem is also bandwitdh; I'm capped at a 540p resolution when I stream because my internet speed is about 10 down and 1.5 up. I'm considering upgrading to the next tier which is 15 up and 10 down and is 2$/month more expensive. My computer isn't that great, I sent you a screenshot via steam but it's a 3-years-old i5 with a ATI Radeon HD 5570.

I'm having a bit of a ping issues when I stream lately, getting like 100-120ms when I should be pinging 30ms so I'm having a slight delay when I play =(

    Re: Shokushu's stream

I have a 15 meg upload but I have a really shoddily small cap on my DL/UL per month and uploading gameplay in 720p really chews up that allowance. Not that my streaming would show anything other than average gameplay but I can do a game or two every now and then.

On a side note I can recommend XSplit though Tim...pretty simple to set up and pretty kind to your system's resources.

Yeah I also have a relatively small bandwidth cap per month but I don't download anything at home (using office's unlimited internet connection for downloads ^^), so it's okay for me to stream!

    Re: Shokushu's stream

I have no cap per month! (Which is useful, considering my work requires me to be online 24/7.) I just have a terrible upstream.

I'll give XSplit a more serious look at some point, but honestly, this PC is so stupendously powerful I haven't really had trouble recording anything with FRAPS. XSplit is obviously more useful for livestreaming, though, and if I want to record anything with picture-in-picture, that'd probably be my best option...
