witcher 2 out today! has anyone purchased it yet?

witcher 2 is out today and all signs point to it being a kickass game, question is has anyone on this site gotten their hands on this game?

I well probably get it myself, but after my semester is over, but before that i wanted to get someones opinion on the game before going for it.


if some of you haven't played the first one, make sure to give it a try, the story and atmosphere should appeal to anyone who appreciates a dark and mature setting (like D1 & D2) it's probably very cheap right now too.

yeah the first one really surprised me with the quality of it's story and the realness of the choices you were given (every choice has consequence, there is no evil or good decision, there are only degrees of grey.)

the combat was ok, not great but it did not prevent my enjoyment of the game. I also really like the matureness of the game in that problems in the narrative are real life problems we have in our own world (racism, ignorance, greed and back & forth violence between groups of people).

Yeah, its always a breath of fresh air when a mature game hits the market. I mean, sure, we got lots of games with blood and violence and foul language, even a few with nudity. (As long as the prudes don't get their censor bars all over them anyway. ) But there are so very few titles that are actually "mature" in their content. That's not to say the other games are necessarily bad of course, but its a different kind of entertainment. More cerebral.

Speaking of nudity, looks like the Australian version will still be censored. The quests that normally offer sex as a reward will have "modified" rewards instead. Wonder how that will turn out for the poor souls who live there. He comes back after killing twenty monsters or whatever, and she starts telling him in a seductive voice how very grateful she is that he did that for her. He takes off his shirt, she hands him a cookie.

it really doesn't make sense for people to be so concerned with nudity, I mean what are they afraid of? is a person who sees nudity suddenly gonna get the urge to rape anything in sight? or jerk of on the spot?

it is especially ridiculous when you consider the fact that this game is being advertised for adults, who see nudity in movies, porn or in real life. who are they trying to protect?

I managed to watch a stream of some dude playing a deluxe edition or something on the 16th. It looked awesome. I have the witcher ED and liked it besides it's many faults. I would have had TW2 preordered (and I never preorder anything) if it weren't for my lack of a desktop to run it. Yet.

Also , any Australians can get an uncensored version from gog.
