Re: Top 10 games of all time

    In no real order.

    FFVI - Best Jrpg ever.

WoW - I spent 4 years into this so yeah, it does rank high.

Quake 2 DM / Quake III Arena / Quake Live - Granddaddy of fps games. Nothing more, nothing less.

Diablo 2 - Best hack n' slash rpg ever.

Tribes 2 / TribesNext - best team based shooter.

    Starcraft 1 / 2 - The nr 1 RTS ever.

Battlefield 2 - My most played shooter game. Ahh, karkand 64 infantry

Stunt Gp - Best driving game ever. You can throw flatout 2 away after you've played it.

Metal Gear Solid series - The best adventure / action game series for consoles.

FFX(-2) - The second best final fantasy. Pure win.

All metroid games - When you just can't pick. Fusion had horror, Zero Mission was perfect, Super Metroid was legendary.

I dont have ranks for my top list but here I go:
    Goldeneye 007 (N64)
WWE Day of Reconing 2 (Gamecube)
    Diablo 2 (PC)
    Super Mario RPG (SNES)
Paper Mario The Thousand Year Old Door (Gamecube)

Those are games I really enjoy.

    In no particular order :

    - Wow. Yes I still play it. It is a great game, balanced, regular updates, huge online world, it has it all.
    - D2. Yes I still play it. It is totaly unbalanced, has no regular updates any more, but it's just so much fun. I have not seen another area damage dominated mass slaughter game that good.
    - Trackmania. Racing game with the craziest tracks ever, thanks to a map editor and a community that has made millions of maps at this point.
    - Psychonauts. So crazy, so hillarious, this one is a gem !
    - Battleforge. Great mix of RTS and Magic:the gathering card game.
    - Portal. Brain teaser FPS, what more can you want ?
    - Strike force. Was a Unreal tournament mod, had it's peak probably around 2002. A bit like Counterstrike, but much more action orientated. Campers had no chance. The only FPS I played for years.

almost forgot : Since this is about games in general, here are 3 more :

    - Go. Ancient asian strategic board game. Realy the king of strategy games, forget chess.
    - Ultimate : Best team sport ever.
    - Disc golf : Best single sport ever.

    - Just incredible for team-based multiplayer fun.
I am sometimes shocked how few people know of/played this game. There has never been an FPS that has matched the three-dimensional feel of hurtling at hundreds of miles/hr thru enhanced jetpack flying mixed with skiing down hills and mountains, and add into that a massive team-based strategy element that relies on timing and chat commands for coordination.

There has literally never been another game that pumped as much adrenaline through my veins. I will admit it had a slightly steep learning curve... you never forget those first times trying to teach a friend how to play, and he is running circles on the ground while you hover over him launching disks of death ;-)

FFXI Online - I have to rate this MMO over WoW, because all of my fondest memories of beautiful landscapes, closest online friendships, and accomplishments that felt like they really meant something, all came from ffxi. Gaining access to Sea or Sky in ffxi felt epic, and in comparison seeing a little plaque pop up in WoW to let you know you've explored a continent or something equally as lame just comes off as cheesy.

FF7 - I rate this game at the top for one feature alone... the clever materia system. It holds so much replay value solely because playing with materia combos is so insanely fun and addictive.

I guess WoW has to be somewhere in the list, mostly because it has at least half the beauty of FFXI while being much more casual-friendly to those of us with lessening gameplay time. The Quake series as well, and Doom for being the first game that could immerse me so far to be genuinely scared/creeped out.

There's a tribes remake going on. Official one by a professional studio. Can't remember who it is. I plan to play it since I missed the first one.
