Recettear: an item shop's tale is a $20 game on Steam (also has a demo) that is a simulator. You play as a girl named Recette and manage an item shop by selling stuff to customers. You buy stuff from market at hopefully low prices and sell them at higher price to customers. You can also find stuff from dungeons and sell them.

Re: Recettear: an item shop's tale
Have you (or anyone else) given this a shot? It's nothing crazy special, but it can still be pretty simple and addicting. Couldn't put it down for a while.
The world needs more games like this.

Re: Recettear: an item shop's tale
What is the character development and item system like?
Is the market player driven?

As I said, it's a very simple game. Don't expect too much out of it, though it's quite polished among other doujin I've seen. In any case, your best bet is probably to just try out the demo to find out more. It's a time-limited one, so you'll be able to test pretty much all aspects of the game.
