I remember there was a stat or something you had to increase to make higher level enchants,dont know wether you had to be some sort of magic user to make good enchants(its a long time since I played).

Just increase the enchant skill. You do need to buy spells to be able to use them in enchanting, but ya, one skill at 100 can effectively replace all your magic skills. I seem to recall there being an infinite supply of grand soul gems somewhere, and summoning (using enchanted items!) provides you all the souls you need. ^_^

You cannot enchant the really high end items yourself, to low chance of succeeding iirc, instead use a vendor. You'll have to accumulate quite some gold to do big enchantments, but once you've got the gold you can just sell stuff to the enchanting vendor to get it all back so you can do another one.

Soul gems are a non factor once you've got azuras star and a method to summon golden saints (think there's enough scrolls to fill your needs). Ascended sleepers can also be used and those are found in pretty much every dunmer stronghold. Even without azuras star there's plenty of grand soulgems avialable unless you play without the expansions.

This thread makes me want to play again.

There was something about Morrowind that was just so much more appealing than Oblivion.

I think its that they made Oblivion feel small and constrained in comparison.

Anyways, I love seeing posts in this thread.

Made me go online and buy Morrowind+the 2 expansions haha

Oblivion just didn't feel as good as Morrowind, yes it was purdier but that was it. In Oblivion you could be the leader/master/whatever of all of the guilds at once, the monsters leveling with the characters really killed the spirit of wanting to go cave robbing to see what piece of equipment you could improve on. I gotta say though, some of the mods for Oblivion are just great.

Monster leveling destroyed the role playing aspect.

Imo morrowind was waaay too big for me, i prefer oblivion, abit smaller and the story is so more inviting.

Oblivion actually had a larger landmass than Morrowind. Also, I found Morrowind's story to be much more epic and immersive than Oblivion's.
