Hard to pick a favorite but defiantly one from touhou. I'll mention stage 4 of subterranean animism, heartfelt fancy (first song) made for a really good atmosphere and then you realize you're screwed when you hear Satori's theme.

Another favorite of mine is Mark Morgan. He's got a distinct, unique style that is very atmospheric. He's written music for masterpieces like Fallout, Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment.

This one is from PS:T, no idea why there's a Fallout picture.

Bah, one thing I miss about not being a moderator here is my leet edit button.

I forgot to mention almost everything from WoW. My awe started with the Stormwind theme below - the moment the male voices kick in at about 1:40! - but I love nearly every piece of music in that game.

Also want to give an example of the music in inns and taverns in WoW:

Ooooh, another one worth mentioning (damn they keep coming now, lol) is the Medal of Honor - Allied Assault theme, which is actually the first piece of game music I kept listening to even when not playing.
