Each weapon will either slice, bash or pierce your enemy and the various type of murder will help raise your stats.  No doubt there will be achievements when you hit a certain number of kills with the different weapons, but the build we had was far too small to get that far.

General ScreenshotIn each category you have a variety of weapons, many of which are incredibly random, and all of which have different attributes.  Slicing weapons can be anything from swords and axes to swordfish skeletons.  Ranged weapons go from guns to bows and arrows, while bashing weapons will include hammers and mallets.  Acquiring weapons is easy as they appear throughout the world either from felled enemies or treasure chests.  Treasure chests can also grant treasure items which act as a currency to spend on the aforementioned statues as well as helping out when you suffer.  Treasure works in much the same way as Sonic's rings: when you're downed, you have a very short time period in which to pick up lost gems

Downed enemies also drop treasure, but the great thing about killing enemies is the actual killing itself.  You can slice enemies into pieces and blood splatters everywhere.  Walk in the red stuff, and bloody footsteps trail your character's steps for awhile.  It's really quite dark, but still manages to retain the game's light-hearted manner, with the blood a vibrant red to match the surrounding bubbly environment.

Attacking is really quite simple: you simply push the right analogue stick in the direction of the enemy you want to kill.  The left stick moves your character, while the left bumper allows you to swap between the two weapons in your inventory.  You can throw or drop any of your weapons using the right bumper, while tapping the right bumper over dropped items makes you pick stuff up.  Kill enough enemies and a little bar fills up which, when high enough, allows you to do glory moves, which see you wiggling your analogue stick furiously to achieve a high amount of kills in a short space of time.

General ScreenshotThe game is well crafted, but right now it still falls at one hurdle.  Whether this is going to be resolved before release is a major concern because the problem is, as with many third-person games – you guessed it -  the camera.  It's frustrating and annoying almost all of the time, but the flaw is most obvious when you're trying to scale razor sharp blades, or jumping from moving platform to moving platform.  You're not even zoomed into the action - the camera stays the same distance away, making it almost impossible for you to judge where you are and how you're going to land.  With no control for the camera this will be the biggest flaw, and this will really frustrate gamers.

Other than that, this is a great little game. It's nicely designed, well thought out and displays a wicked sense of humour.  Despite its visual style, this is not a game for children and taps cleverly into the twisted morality that forms the basis for most fairytales.
