IncGamers.com was launched as a spin-off to the original Gamerush.com gaming website which was established in 1996 and purchased by UK based internet service provider IOMart in 1999. Gamerush provided original content and managed IOmart's Madasafish ISP online game service. The site and management services ceased in June 2001 when Madasafish was sold by parent company IOMart .

In September of 2001 Gamerush.com founders made the decision to launch a new gaming portal called IncGamers.com to cover videogame features for all game formats.
