The Sims 2 Announced

You know it had to happen, and perhaps Maxis have run out of ideas for the 4373th expansion, so today EA announced that the Sims 2 is on the way and will be released at the beginning of 2004.

The new game will follow a similar premise to the original but will also feature a new 3D engine. Players will be able to customise their Sims facial features,  build dwellings over two stories and also have have the ability to coordinate and customize the homes of their Sims to a new degree of design with all-new furniture, lighting and objects.

Maxis are taking the game to a new level and this time players control their Sims for a complete lifetime with your Sims DNA being passed down through generations. As you follow the Sims for the duration of their life, Maxis has added a new "Life Score" to measure how well they are playing each individual Sim. The decisions that players make throughout the lifetime of their Sims now have an impact on their long-term success or failure. A choice made as a toddler has a direct effect on the teen and adult Sim they become.

The game actually sounds like a step in the right direction and will no doubt be a huge hit with fans of the series. The game will be on show for the first time at E3 in a weeks time in LA
