The GTA inspired Retro City Rampage is coming to PS3 & Vita

Retro City RampageRetro City Rampage is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, the game's lead designer Brian Provincianio has confirmed.

Provinciano describes RCR as a game in which you "steal cars, and then jump on pedestrians for big shiny coins. Collect power-ups and outrun the law while rampaging the city, shooting a light gun or swinging your bionic arm."

To break it down, it's an open-world, retro-inspired Grand Theft Auto type thing with plenty of parody of 80s culture.

As you image above suggests, there are plenty of Back to the Future References. As the screenshots below show, it's got a charmingly quirky aesthetic, Mario-style mountains and schoolbuses.

That brings the total number of planned platforms for RCR to five; the PS3 and Vita joining the already announced PC, XBLA and WiiWare editions. All versions are expected this May.
