DOTA 2 will include LAN and mod support

DOTA 2 imageAs you've probably gathered from the clear and concise heading to this post, DOTA 2 will come with mod and LAN support.

The news was confirmed by Valve, with project lead Erik Johnson saying that they are currently working on building the systems to support LAN mode.

“There are some systems that LAN mode requires that we haven’t finished yet, mainly because we’ve been focused on matchmaking. We know how important this feature is for the community,”said Johnson.

Johnson wouldn't say exactly how the game will be supporting mods, instead giving the standard "we have a long history supporting the mod community" line.

There is still no release date for DOTA 2.
