Japanese Vita sales hit new low

PlaystationVitaSony's fancy new handheld continues to struggle in Japan. Sales for the week ending 12 February are the lowest the console has experienced thus far.

Sales of 13,939 are down from the previous week of 17.141. To date the PS Vita's sales figures in Japan look like this:

  • Week 1: 324,859
  • Week 2: 72,479
  • Week 3: 42,648
  • Week 4: 42,915
  • Week 5: 18,361
  • Week 6: 15,219
  • Week 7: 18,942
  • Week 8: 17.141
  • Week 9: 13,939

The PS Vita is due to release in North America, Australia and Europe next week, on 22 February. Today saw three of Australia's major retailers announce that they would not be stocking the system upon its initial launch.
