Kaz Hirai, the man that will soon take over of CEO of Sony (as of 1 April), has warned that "serious trouble" is around the corner for the company unless big changes are made.
"I don't think everybody [at Sony is yet on board with the changes], but I think people are coming around to the idea that if we don't turn this around, we could be sitting in some serious trouble,” Hirai said.
His comments come the day after Sony forecasted that it would lose $2.9 billion for the financial year ending 31 March, which is more than double what they were expecting earlier in the year.
Hirai continued:
"I thought turning around the PlayStation business was going to be the toughest challenge of my career, but I guess not... It's one issue after another. I feel like 'Holy s—, now what?'"
Hirai has said that he will look into the viability of over 20,000 of Sony's current products and that he want to focus on providing an excellent experience for the user.
Key questions said should be asked of every product, Hirai said, are “What can you do with the product? What are your services? What kind of content do you have?”
