For many of us, today represents the first of many Fridays this February that will strain our wallets to the max. Soul Calibur V, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and NeverDead all hit retailers today, but are they any good?
The short answer is that three of them are, one of them isn't.
In his Final Fantasy XIII-2 review Tim said that "it's hard to recommend purely on the basis of its storyline" but "anyone who loves a decent combat system, exploiting levelling mechanics, growing monsters, or simply exploring a number of truly vast environments to root out all the hidden secrets will have a ball."
Tim ended up awarding Final Fantasy XIII-2 an 8/10. Read the full review.
Soul Calibur V attained the same 8/10 score, predominantly because "mastering its systems and dispatching opponents in a blaze of high-tempo violence is immensely satisfying." However, despite the increased emphasis on accessibility, "newcomers may find the going a little tough, but the well-balanced cast means you’ll not be left biting the dust for too long."

Metal Gear HD Collection includes five games: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and a console version of the PSP's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. All in HD. The original Metal Gear Solid games from the late 1980s are also included.
Is the collection worth your cash? Our 9/10 review says yes.
Finally, NeverDead. Unfortunately, the Konami published, Rebellion developed third-person hack 'n' slasher lacks much in the way of finesse and, as a result, is very difficult to recommend.
"There are some good ideas in NeverDead," our 5/10 review reads, "it’s just a shame that they sit so clumsily on top of one another... [it's] so overdone that it’s a chore rather than a pleasure."
