It words are to believed in their entirity (as I'm sure they always are), then Sony are not at all worried about the current sales levels of the PS Vita. Further, the company doesn't believe it will any problems getting units out of stores and into people's hands this February.
When Sony executive vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato was asked whether or not he thought the handheld was struggling, he said:
"...as far as the sell-through, three weeks have passed and sell-through is 500,000. This was announced on the 10th of January. So as a start, I think we had a very good start.
"Including software and hardware, we are carrying out the sales promotions and we do it to boost the sales, and we do not think we have any problems."
Over three-fifths of those 500,000 sales came in the first week, in which the PS Vita sold 324,859 units. Since then the numbers have trailed off, the most recent week seeing sales of 18,942.
PS Vita is launched in Europe and North America on 22 February.
