Diablo 3 major changes revealed

Diablo 3As promised Blizzard's Jay Wilson has released his game system update for Diablo 3 and there are some pretty major changes that may surprise many of you.

Jay kicks things off by revealing that Scrolls of Identification have been removed from the game so now when you receive an unidentified item you right click it and a timer appears as you examine the item.

The fifth quick slot button is moving to a dedicated potion button to make it easier for players in emergency situation to activate the potions.

The Mystic artisan is being completely removed from the game as Blizzard felt that Mystic wasn’t adding anything to the "customisation system".

The Cauldron of Jordan and the Nephalim Cube has been removed from the game and now the Stone of Recall has been renamed to the Town Portal so players go back to town to sort out their gear. The Blacksmith will now salvage items now the cube has gone.

Common white items can now not be salvaged to focus on the more important items in the game.

Finally, the last change in this update is quite important as far as characters are concerned; core character attributes are being changed to Strength, Dexterity, Intellect and Vitality.

Defense, Attack, and Precision as attributes are being dropped and Armor is taking over from Defense, +Physical Resist will take over for Armor, and +Chance to Crit will fill in for Precision.

A patch is expected to be released within the next 48 hours which we assume will include some of these changes.

It's a lot to digest and you can read Jay's full update right here.
