The early days of SWTOR, told through statistics

Star Wars: The Old Republic

It seems that the force has gotten off to a strong start in this one (yep, I just wrote that!). EA's release of figures for the early weeks of BioWare's MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic make for some interesting reading, if you're a geek like me.

Included in the deafening chorus of digits the publisher continues to bombard us with at every opportunity is the reveal that over 60 million hours have been spent in the game's world, and that in this time over 9 million missions have been completed.

That's an average of 6.6 hours per mission... seems people are indulging in the atmosphere more than the quests. For some reason that warms my heart.

More figures are included below. The rate that EA are churning this stuff out, expect an updated list tomorrow.

If you're still unsure about jumping into the lightsaber-ridden world of hairy beasts and reptilian dwarfs then you can do worse than check out Tim's review of the game's early stages.

  • Over 850,000 Sith Warriors and over 810,000 Jedi Knights created
  • Over 260 million quests completed
  • Over 44 million PvP battles
  • Over 9 million space combat missions completed
  • Over 3 billion NPCs killed
  • Logged 60 million in-game hours (as of Boxing Day - 26 Dec) - roughly equivalent to watching all six Star Wars movies, four million times
  • Averaged well over five hours a day playing the game

In related news today, according to analysts Baird Equity Research, SWTOR currently has arouund 350,000 concurrent users. Although this is just an estiomate based on the number of live servers, the signs are positive for the MMO and no doubt we'll hear more on ther numbers in the coming weeks from EA.
