Beenox developing Spider-Man film tie-in

The Amazing Spider-Man (concept art)Activision, Marvel and Spider-Man developers of choice Beenox will combine their superhero-like powers to release The Amazing Spider-Man, a tie-in game for the forthcoming film of the same name. Beenox is pretty familiar with the Spider-Man universe by now, having already developed Spider Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

This time, there doesn't seem to be quite so much emphasis on messing around with timelines and alternative dimensions. Instead, it'll be an "epilogue story occurring entirely after the events of the movie" and, much more interestingly, claims to feature "the return of free-roaming web-slinging all over the city [of New York]". Now that could be good.

Players will apparently be exploring "many areas all over (and under) Manhattan" and making use of a new 'Web Rush' feature that sounds like it'll make web-slinging and web-swinging that bit more fluid.

The Amazing Spider-Man is due next summer, on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS and 3DS. A full trailer is promised on 10 December as part of the Video Game Awards, but a tiny teaser has also been release which you can see below.
