Game designer extraordinaire Shigeru Miyamoto is looking at remaking the early 2D Zelda games, bringing them to a modern audience in 3D. At least, that's according to the word of Zelda boss Eiji Aounuma.
Speakng with GamesRadar, Aounuma said that Miyamoto is thinking about giving the 3D treatment to games "designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that could get a sense for the depth of those worlds."
As a fan of Link and company, that idea fills me with the kind of excited usually reserved for a lamb and mint sauce sandwich.
"That's something that might be interesting to do," Anunuma continued, "so I would say there might be a possibility of something like that in the future."
Before anything like that, however, we've got Zelda: Skyward Sword to look forward to on the Wii. The game is release Friday 18 November in the UK.
