Battlefield 3: 360 install will allow for hi-res textures

Battlefield 3Will work in a way similar to Rage.

Due to the fact that we're well into the life-cycle of the current crop of consoles, some games are starting to find new ways of cramming in all of their content in a way that can be processed effectively.

Like Rage, it seems that Battlefield 3 will give Xbox 360 players the option of installing content onto the hard-drive to allow for hi-res textures without frequent pop-up.

“There’s a voluntary install on the 360,” Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Liu said. “I think Rage did it as well, where you can install content to stream higher res textures.

“We’re pushing that technology to the limit, and compared to our competitors, I would argue that we’re the best looking game.”

It has already been announced that the 360 edition of Battlefield 3 will come over two discs, although which discs will cover the game's three primary elements - single players, co-op and multiplayer - has yet to made clear.

Battlefield 3 is due on Xbox 360, PlayStation and PC on 25 Oct in N. America and 28 Oct in Europe.
