The MMO's technical issues have "greatly damaged" the Final Fantasy brand, says Square Enix.
Sqaure Enix CEO, Yoichi Wada, has told reporters at a Tokyo press conference that the company is committed to providing players with the version of Final Fantasy XIV that they should have had at release - rather than the technically damaged and poorly designed version they did get.
"We'll continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released,” said Wada.
Wada also admitted that the Final Fantasy brand as a whole "has been greatly damaged" by the whole affair. It's not just the brand that must have been damaged, Square Enix must have taken a big hit in their pocket due to the fact that they allowed players to play the MMO for free given the scale of the problems it suffered.
