BioWare: Old Republic launch could be 'really huge'

Star Wars: The Old RepublicPossibly, the "biggest online launch in history."

BioWare, a company known for developing games with 'epic' worlds, are gearing themselves up for what they believe could be an epic launch for upcoming MMO Stars Wars: The Old Republic.

“Because of the hype around the game right now, our launch numbers are predicting something really huge, which means we have to be ready for the biggest online launch in history essentially,” said Old Republic project lead James Ohlen when speaking to Gamasutra.

Preparing for the "biggest online launch in history" is one thing, achieving it is something else entirely.

With a number of high-profile MMOs due to be released over the next six months or so, this is shaping up to be a very interesting time for the genre. As yet, Old Republic doesn't have a firm release date but it is expected before the end of the current fiscal year.

Did you know? We have four seperate previews of The Old Republic, the first dating back to June 2009. Read them here.
