Funcom appear to have made the right move with Age of Conan Unchained as new players flock to Hyboria.
There's not many free to play MMOs that can boast the quality of Age of Conan so it's no huge surprise that since the MMO went free to play with Age of Conan: Unchained, more than 300,000 players joined the free to play version of the game.
“The launch of the hybrid business model has been very successful so far,” says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. “The activity levels on the servers are booming with a fourfold increase in players during July, we more than doubled the revenue generated from the game, and we have experienced a positive development in subscriber numbers. This definitely gives us great hope for the game’s future.”
The new Conan movie will be hitting hitting the big screen in a few weeks and the Funcom team are currently creating a new adventure pack called ‘Savage Coast of Turan’ which will tie-in with events from movie.
