Heroes of Newerth joins the free-to-play gang

Heroes of NewerthIn keeping with the current trend for MMO titles, Heroes of Newerth has announced that it'll be free to play from now on.

If you've previously paid for the game, your account is now a flash-sounding 'Legacy' one (giving you automatic access to all heroes, game modes and soforth). Free accounts are called 'Basic' and have matchmaking restrictions and hero limits.

To upgrade from 'Basic' to 'Verified' (which offers a wider range of matchmaking game options), players must either make a purchase on their account or play enough games to reach level five.
