Gears of War: The board game..?

gears board gameMarcus, Cole, Baird and the Locust swap the control pad and TV for a ruler and dice.

In what is surely a major contender for Geek of the Week (whatever that may be), Fantasy Flight Games are selling a board game edition of everyone's favourite game featuring a chainsaw strapped to an assualt rifle.

Gears of the War: The Board Game pitches itself as "a cooperative board game of fierce firefights for 1-4 players." Players take the role of the COG (i.e. Marcus Fenix and co.) and work together to destroy the "Locust horde", it also promises that you'll be able to "relive classic moments from Gears of War and Gears of War 2."

The game consists of:

- Over 30 plastic figures
- Over 200 cards
- 35 Locust 'AI' cards
- 17 double-sided map tiles
- Nearly 75 tokens and markers
- 1 mission reference sheet
- 5 attack dice and 4 defense dice
- 1 line of site ruler

Thinking of picking up a copy? You can do so here, just bear in mind that it'll set you back a hefty $79.95. If anyone would like to send us a copy...

Fantasy Flight Games are also responsible for StarCraft: The Board Game and Age of Conan: The Board Game
