Dave Jones back on APB

APB - All Points BulletinThe original creator of the failed APB is now back working with Gamersfirst on the game's reboot.

Dave Jones who was the founder of the now out of business Realtime Worlds is back working on the reboot of APB, APB Reloaded, which was taken on by GamerFirst. Dave has been drafted in by GamersFirst and according to GamersFirst, Dave is expected to bring his "vast game design experience during critical design stages of the ongoing development of APB Reloaded".

“The opportunity to have David reconnect with us during the production of the new ‘APB Reloaded’ game has been great and it lets us take advantage of both a deeper understanding of the original vision of APB, as well as leveraging the strengths of the Free2Play model used in the new ‘APB Reloaded’ game,” said Bjorn Book-Larsson, COO and CTO of GamersFirst. “We look forward to David’s continued association with this game, especially as we evaluate new game designs between the May 18th Open Beta the formal launch later this year.”

Whether Dave's re-introduction to the world of APB is a good thing remains to be seen, the original game bombed miserably under his guidance. APB certainly had good ideas at its core but it was fundamentally flawed. However, Dave appears committed to the cause adding:

“This game was my passion back when I was developing it with Realtime Worlds, and I’m extremely excited to be able to participate in fulfilling the long term vision for the title. After seeing what the team has done with the game thus far, I’m certain that APB Reloaded will become the title that truly breaks new ground for online game experiences, especially with transition to a free to play model.”

Let's hope his vision is realised, a second turkey wouldn't be great for his CV, despite what he has achieved in the past with GTA.
