Mouse makes you feel more 'connected' says Fable 3 designer

Fable III's combat designer weighs in on the mouse/keyboard vs. control pad debate.

In a recent interview with IncGamers, Mike West, Combat Designer on Fable III, has explained his preference for the mouse over a standard control pad by saying that it makes him feel more 'connected'.

While explaining the reasons behind the inclusion of the PC edition's 'Hardcore' mode, West said that:

'To me, when you’re on the mouse everything feels a bit more connected. With Fable III (on PC)for example, the speed in which you’re able to turn your character around and attack in different directions is much quicker than you can achieve on the Xbox. For that reason it feels as though it should be made harder.'

When pushed on whether or not Fable is a series that should be difficult to play in pure gameplay terms, West replied:

'Creating a game that the casual gamer can complete is the most important thing for us because very few people complete games these days... But, in some respects, I think that we should be looking at ways for the hardcore gamers to have more of a challenge. However, we don’t want to alienate the casual gamers.'
