THQ patches Homefront issues

Patch released to fix problems and upgrade server capacity for PS3 edition of Homefront. Patches for PC and 360 on their way.

The PS3 patch is aimed at fixing problems users have been experiencing with freezes, joining matches, accepting invites and issues with match timers and scores not working properly.

A statement from THQ on the Homefront website reads: "THQ and Kaos are committed to supporting Homefront post-launch, and we are actively investigating all reported bugs and issues. We have already dramatically increased server capacity to meet the unprecedented demand, which is addressing many of the connection issues we saw [on Wednesday].”

Being the most pre-order title in THQ's history, one would reasonably expect the game to have sufficient infrastructure in place on launch day.

THQ's statement continues:

"We want to stress that Homefront is one of a tiny handful of titles offering dedicated server support on console, and the infrastructure and networking code required to support this is much more complex and demanding than simple peer-to-peer matchmaking you see in most other FPS games."

"The payoff is larger maps, more players, and an equal playing field for all – something we believe is critical for fair, balanced FPS gameplay.”

Homefront was released in the US earlier this week and is out in the UK today, you can read our review here.
