Fifth Res Evil movie confirmed

Box Office Mojo is reporting that Sony Pictures have confirmed the next installment in the Resident Evil movie franchise will hit US theatre's September 2012.

Currently known simply as 'Resident Evil 5' this latest movie of the popular videogame franchise is set after the events of the fourth movie (Resident Evil: Afterlife) and is due for a US launch on 14 Sep 2012.

Worldwide box-office figures for Resident Evil: Afterlife came in at over $236million which makes the production of further entries in the series a financial no-brainer. This fifth movie is expected to incorporate stereoscopic 3D.

The announcement comes hot off the news that Capcom had agreed terms for the production of a movie based on their Devil May Cry series.
