Twitter Support Added to RIFT

RiftA couple of nights ago, TRION hinted that Twitter support would be added to their upcoming MMORPG RIFT which goes into Open Beta in two hours time. This evening they have confirmed that players will be able to Tweet direct from the game's chat window.

The six-day Rift open beta event kicks off today at 6pm GMT with a bang… or rather, a tweet. When players login to Trion’s upcoming MMORPG this week, they’ll find new functionality that allows in-game updates to their Twitter feeds straight from the besieged world of Telara. Share screenshots, boast your latest achievement, or simply send an update to your friends - all from the in-game chat window.

Tweeting from Telara couldn’t be easier. After entering your Twitter login info in the settings menu, players can simply type “/tweet” into in-game chat and update their feed. Achievements are tweeted automatically by default, but the option can be switched off in the settings menu.

This is quite a cool addition and it's certainly a good way to get word out about the game from while the Open Beta takes place this week. Will it trend on Twitter? We'll have to wait and see.
