ArenaNet has put up a lengthy 'lore' piece, detailing the Kodan race that will feature in Guild Wars 2.
The Kodan are ten foot tall polar bears, who wear armour and have an extensive spiritual and cultural backstory. Learn more about the 'Claw' and the 'Voice' (two extremely important roles in Kodan society) and their lore in general by heading over to ArenaNet.
