UbiSoft Remove DRM on Some PC Titles

Assassin's Creed: BrotherhoodPC gamers were not happy when they discovered that UbiSoft had added their always-on DRM system. Players have to be constantly connected to the Internet to play some UbiSoft PC titles which is not exactly ideal or user friendly.

The latest news on the subject is that UbiSoft has now removed the always-on Internet DRM from two of their more popular PC titles, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Splinter Cell Conviction.

UbiSoft has also confirmed that the removal of the DRM is being looked at on a "case by case" basis so and new titled may well still ship with the DRM in place.

PC gamers should note that when you first launch either of the above titles, or future titles, you will still have to authenticate with UbiSoft when the game is booted for the first time.

It's a step on the right direction at least and with any luck UbiSoft will ditch the system entirely eventually.
