EA’s download remake Battlefield 1943 has raked in a mighty $16 million (£10 million) on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network for the publisher.
The title, which was low-budget and created by a team ‘between projects’, has achieved amazing success and, says EA’s Eric Brown, it was ‘an industry first in terms of the delivery mechanism’.
Earlier this year, developer Dice said Battlefield 1943 had sold one million on Xbox Live and ‘set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category’.
Battlefield 1943 is currently rated on Metacritic as 84 on PS3 and 83 on Xbox 360.
