Microsoft: "There Will Be A Halo Movie'

Microsoft has said that a blockbuster movie based on its Halo franchise will become a reality.

Speaking at the Future of Television East Conference in the US, Microsoft’s Frank O’Connor announced: “There will be a Halo movie."

O’Connor, who was a former content manager for developer Bungie but now works for Microsoft, added that the US giant may put the money up for the project, stating: “Maybe we’ll even fund it ourselves.”

He also added he would be happy to make a TV series or a straight-to-DVD movie if it would get the project moving.

“We’d love to see Halo as a television series. Look what HBO did with Band of Brothers or even Rome. Something like that would work because the Halo universe is so vast,” said O’Connor.

He then revealed why nothing has happened so far, citing lawyers as the main cause.

“Everyone wanted to do a Halo movie, the director, Microsoft, the highest placed people at movie companies.

“It was the lawyers. When they went behind closed doors with the contracts, things fell apart. The problem was that the movie company couldn’t make any money beyond the movie.”
