Microsoft is to close its Halo Wars website next month two years after the game was released on Xbox 360, the firm has announced.
The next DLC for the console game will take into account the closure of the site, which will also see the end of online stat-tracking and dedicated community support.
“While I know some of you will see this as bad news, it really isn't,” a statement reads. “Halo Waypoint, unlike HaloWars.com, is updated daily by the community team. We have very big plans for Halo Waypoint, and if you've seen the mobile app that we just announced, then you'll have an idea of where we're headed with it.
“The forums will disappear and so will online stat-tracking. I know this will be rough on a lot of you, and I can promise that it wasn't a decision made lightly.”
Microsoft confirmed that users of the current site will not be able to transfer data over to its Halo Waypoint site, but said it will give transferring users a special forum avatar not available to users outside of the Halo Wars community.
Halowars.com will close December 15.
