Sony Clarifies '50 Minute' GT5 Installation Rumour

Sony has clarified the ’50 minute’ Gran Turismo 5 installation news that was previously announced today, revealing that such an install is optional.

The firm confirmed that the 6.4Gb install is ‘optional’, revealing that a much smaller 256Mb installation is the minimum requirement.

Gamers can choose to install the 6.4Gb taking around 40 minutes, or they can install it in stages as they play through the game.

Sony’s statement read: “GT5 gives users the option of an install.

“This makes loading times throughout much faster but is not a requirement when first playing. If users choose not to install the data straight away it will do it in stages as news areas, tracks, etc. are accessed during normal gameplay.”
