Sony’s eagerly-awaited car racer Gran Turismo 5 will not only see a surge in game sales, but it could also help the firm cement its victory in the Christmas hardware stakes too.
According to WedBush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, Sony should sell ‘a few hundred thousand’ consoles on the back of the game.
The analyst, who added he believes the PS3 will not sell 'millions' more due to the car racer, claims it’s too late in the PS3’s cycle for GT5 to prove itself a ‘big system seller’.
Speaking to IncGamers, Pacther said: “It's too late in the cycle to see any game as a big system seller.
“I suppose that a few hundred thousand incremental consoles will be sold because of GT5, but not millions.”
A recent study claimed that the PlayStation 3 will be the biggest-selling console this Christmas.
