Ubisoft Reveals Driver Delay, Sales Figures & 2011 Assassin's Creed Project
16 Nov 2010 at 00:01:27 by Peter ParrishUbisoft's latest conference call to investors has revealed several interesting pieces of news.
Both Driver: San Francisco and Ghost Recon: Future Solider have been delayed; pushed into fiscal year 2012 (which spans from April 2011 to March 2012.) When asked about the delay to Driver, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that "Seeing the competition, it's very important to bring all the fine touches to the game."
A new Assassin's Creed project for 2011 was divulged too. According to G4TV, Guillemot said "There will be something around Assassin's - that's all we can say." This is by no means confirmation of another full Assassin's Creed title, but it'll be no surprise if Ubisoft continue the series after reporting that preorders for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood are already exceeding those for Assassin's Creed 2 by twenty percent.
Also of interest to the financially-minded were a number of specific sales figures for Ubisoft titles. During the first financial quarter (April - June 2010,) 1.9 million copies of Splinter Cell: Conviction were sold. Just Dance pitched in with 800,000 copies sold, and James Cameron's Avatar: The Game: The Silly Subheading somehow managed to shift 350,000 units. Presumably on name-recognition rather than game quality.
