Blizzard has issued a statement in response to the speculation mounting around the company's posting of several console-related job advertisements under the category of 'Diablo III'.
The adverts appear to seek a lead designer, programmer and senior producer, as well as quest scripters and designers for a console project. Blizzard's statement in response to these postings confirms that "We’re exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles" and that the company is indeed seeking to "fill a few senior console-related positions on the Diablo III team."
However, Blizzard is also keen to stress that "this is not an announcement of a console title." The PC/Mac release apparently remains a top priority and the company states that the team "don’t intend to allow any possibility of a console interpretation to delay or affect the release of the game."
This is a curious non-denial, on the one hand admitting that the company is looking into (and openly recruiting for) a console-based Diablo project, while also attempting to head off fears that this may affect the PC release in any way.
