A report notes that Emergent Game Technologies is being forced to sell the Gamebryo engine.
The article attributes this asset sale to the financial troubles of key Emergent investor "Venture Lending and Leasing V, inc" who are currently undergoing a liquidation process organised by Gerbsman Partners. Documentation released by Gerbsman Partners reveal that Emergent has suffered multi-million losses in the period 2006-2010, though is currently in the black to the tune of $0.4 million USD for the current year.
Gamebryo is the game engine behind a number of high-profile releases, most notably Bethesda-published RPGs Oblivion, Fallout 3 and the recent Fallout: New Vegas.
The engine is looking its age these days, so whether this will impact on Gerbsman's ability to find a buyer for "all of Emergent Game Technology's assets, including its Intellectual Property in whole or in part" remains to be seen.
