Shinji Mikami Praises Creative Autonomy Offered By Bethesda
03 Nov 2010 at 21:05:44 by Peter ParrishShinji Mikami, the creative brain behind the Resident Evil series (as well as the director of God Hand and producer for Viewtiful Joe,) has been explaining the thought process that went into the sale of his Tango Gameworks studio to ZeniMax Media (owners of publisher Bethesda.)
In an interview with Famitsu magazine (hopefully translated correctly by the chaps over at 1up,) Mikami stated that he spoke with around ten other companies before signing a deal with ZeniMax and Bethesda. "Bethesda was the best match among them because they gave us the most independent development environment to work with," he said "That, and their track record when it comes to overseas sales."
Unsuprisingly, Mikami is working on a title for Bethesda, about which little is known so far - other than the man himself describing it as "AAA." According to the interview, this will also be the final project Mikami leads as a director.
