Following yesterday’s news that Gran Turismo 5 is to be delayed, the game’s lead has revealed the reason why the eagerly-awaited title will not now launch November 2.
Writing on Twitter, Polyphony Digital’s Kzaunori Yamuchi stated: “Apologies for the delay. It’s because time and labour were spent ironing the kinks out of the complex system. I’m really sorry. Everyone, it’s inexecusable…wait a little longer.”
Although Yamuchi’s reasoning appears to lay the blame at removing any remaining bugs from the game, Sony’s spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka told Reuters ‘production difficulties’ was the cause.
Reported to have cost $60 million to develop, Sony has very high hopes for its flagship racer and will be trying its upmost to make sure it’s nigh on perfect ahead of its release.
The series, which has sold over 56 million copies since its inception in 1997, is still expected to be released before Christmas. However, Sony has said it will be out holiday season in Japan, which means it could be released as late as January.
Watch out for more news as we get it.
