EVE Online To Receive US Retail Re-Release With Temporary Level Boost

Mega-gigantic space MMO EVE Online is to be re-released to retail in North America on 19 October, as the "Commissioned Officer Edition."

What this means, pilot, is that the boxed game comes with something called a Cerebral Accelerator - "a military-grade implant that significantly increases a new pilot’s skill development." There's no precise indication of what "significantly increases" means, but said bonuses are only temporary and will cease after the first 30 days. The intention, it seems, is to give newbies a stat-boost for the first month of the game, so they can compete with the stiff learning curve.

30 days paid subscription time, plus an EVE poster with handy hints are also included in the box. A European release of this edition is "to follow" at a later date.
