It's taken a little longer than we expected, but Blizzard has now reached the massive figure of 12 million WoW subscribers which will no doubt increase once the third expansion Cataclysm hits on 7 December. Blizzard's CEO Mike Morhaime added:
“The support and enthusiasm that gamers across the world continue to show for World of Warcraft reaffirms our belief that it offers one of the best entertainment values available today. We are as committed as ever to taking the game to new heights, and we look forward to demonstrating that with Cataclysm in December.”
Blizzard will be hoping that Cataclysm will revitalise the game and provide enough new content to bring on new players but at the same time offer enough for WoW veterans looking for more high-end content. Early indications suggest that Cataclysm will achieve this thanks to the revamping of the older game zones.
