The Bethesda blog has announced that Fallout: New Vegas had gone gold, meaning it's officially finished and off to manufacturing.
As a result the release date on all formats (Xbox 360, PC and PS3) should now be solidified as 19 October in North America and 22 October in Europe.
The same blog post also features a picture of a rather impressive Fallout: New Vegas-themed cake, baked as a birthday surprise for designer Robert Lee by his wife. That's all very cute, but just remember that cake won't get you very far in a post-nuclear wasteland. What you really need is a jumpsuit, a pet dog and pockets full of experimental medical drugs.
Don't forget you can still enter the Facebook-based Fallout competition to win tickets to the Vegas launch of the game.
