Get rich in Fable 3 from Friday

A new smartphone app from Microsoft and Lionhead Studios will allow players to earn money for use in Fable 3 prior to the game's launch on October 26.

The smartphone app, Fable 3 Kingmaker, will (according to an advert in Xbox World Magazine) grant you the ability to build up your stockpile of gold and transfer it into the game upon release.  According to the Kingmaker teaser site, the app will become available this Friday.  Whether or not you need to pay for it is unknown.

"The kingdom of Albion is in turmoil," the advert declares. "Two rival armies are fighting for total dominion: the tyrant king's Royals and the revolutionary Rebels. And now the battle has spilled onto the wretched streets of Great Britain! For this is where the wondrous world of Fable meets the real world. Where the battleground is your town, and your only weapon is your smartphone."

A similar tactic was employed for the release of Fable 2, which allowed users to download the Fable 2: Pub Games title from Xbox Live Arcade and transfer earned credits into Albion with them.  A video released yesterday by Microsoft showing the voice talent for Fable 3 (including Ben Kingsley, Zoe Wanamaker, Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross) can be found here.

Update: Microsoft have since confirmed the title will be available from Oct 4.
