Valve has given the forthcoming DLC for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, The Sacrifice, a release date of 5 October.
Revealed back in August, The Sacrifice will fill in the backstory to Left 4 Dead 2's "The Passing" campaign, focusing on the original team of survivors. It will be available to owners of both L4D and L4D2, though the L4D2 version will come with additional goodies: namely the full "No Mercy" campaign from the first game, re-fitted for L4D2 (that means access to the special infected and weapons only found in the sequel.)
Sacrifice maps will be playable in Campaign, Versus, and Survival modes in L4D, and Campaign, Versus, Survival, and Scavenge in L4D2. It'll be free to download for both games on PC, and cost 560 MS Points apiece for Xbox 360.
